How To Become A Xebra User

Xebra software consists of two applications that run on Windows 32-bit operating systems: the Xebra Server and the Xebra Client.

We offer two options for companies to get started with the Xebra:

Purchase - You purchase the software and install the Xebra Server at your own location. If you allow access to your Xebra Server from the Internet, you will be able to install and use the Xebra Client software from remote locations as well as your main location where the Xebra Server is installed.
XSS (Xebra Software Services) - Xetex hosts your server and data at our facility. You install the Xebra Client software at your location(s) and access your server over the Internet. XSS is a subscription service.

Both options use the exact same software. XSS requires less money for you to get started and Xetex takes on the responsibility of maintaining your server computer. We have two permanent high-speed Internet connections with plenty of bandwidth to support companies of all sizes.

The Xebra Client is the application that people use on a regular basis to do their everyday work. You can install this program on as many computers as you like, including the same computer that runs the Xebra Server. The Xebra Client requires a computer that runs a 32-bit Windows operating system: Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, etc. The Xebra Client application requires a screen display that supports an 800 x 600 resolution or better.

If you plan to choose option #1 and host your own server:

The Xebra Server application does almost all of the data processing so the computer used to run the Xebra Server should be one of your best computers. The Xebra Server must run on the same computer where the data is stored.

Xebra Server hardware requirements:

Operating System	Any 32-bit Windows desktop or server operating system	Windows XP, Windows 2000, etc. The Xebra Server does not require a server operating system such as Windows Server 2003 but it will run fine on a server operating system. The Xebra Server will run just as well on a Windows XP or Windows 2000 computer.
Processor	Any processor that works with the version of Windows that you have	A Pentium 4 or equivalent processor would be sufficient. Expensive processors won't make much difference in Xebra Server performance unless the computer is busy with many tasks other than running the Xebra Server.
RAM (computer memory)	512MB Minimum	The Xebra Server is designed to make use of computer RAM to optimize processing speed. Increasing the amount of RAM in the server computer is the easiest (and least expensive) way to optimize the performance of the Xebra Server. Companies with many users and/or a large amount of data will get better results with 1GB of RAM and in rare cases more. More than 2GB of RAM is usually not beneficial.
Internal Hard Drive	1-4 GB free space	The Xebra Server needs an internal drive to store your data. Initially you may not need 1-4 GB of free space but as you accumulate more data, your disk storage needs will grow.
Removable Media Drive	CD ROM	You need a CD ROM drive to install the Xebra Server installation CD.
